HOW TO BUILD A WEBSITE

It helps to have an avatar of yourself that you can put on all the different pages to guide people through the website. I created mine with the Bitmoji app. I needed to get my Dad to sign on as an adult. Does it look like me?

There are lots of websites that will let you make a website for free but usually its only for a limited time, then they want you to pay. I used

 www.godaddy.com. My mom has used them a lot to buy website urls (that's what the website address is called) and so I was able to make a website for free. 

Templates are sample website outlines. There were so many to chose from but I liked how the letters (also called font) look on this one. 

There are lots of option to chose from. I decided on what sections to add based of the content for each page. Sometimes I added the wrong one and I had to got back and chose another one. 

On the math page I needed to upload the formula sheet so I chose the PDF section. 

On the electricity page I had a video so I needed to chose the section that let me upload a video to the page. 

I liked this area because you can chose existing colour or make you own with the select custom colour. You get a custom colour by moving the circle or combine 2 colours together to make a new one. The neat thing is that the change is made automatically on all the pages. 

This was the hardest part for me. I needed lots of help to get my ideas on the website. It is easy for me to get distracted or not know what I want to say. I also dont' let editing and re writing but sometimes I had too because my mom and dad would review my work. 

Choosing a url is kind of fun because you can put anything in and see if anyone in the world already owns it. Turns out someone already owns connormackinnon.com. My mom and I talked about different urls like connorspliceproject but then I can only use it for 1 purpose. So I decided to go with connormackinnon.ca and I can redesign it whenever I want.
